Dear Fellow Mesquite Owners,
It is time for us to make an important decision.
Do we want to reward the current Board of Directors at Mesquite for the job they have done over the past 2 years by re-electing 2 of their members? Or do we want to cast BOTH of our votes for a new Non-Board member? Let's look at what the Board has done:
1. The current Board has underfunded the Maintenance Fund by nearly 90% ! Because of this underfunding the current Board is now discussing a possible $2 Million Special Assessment ! This Board can't keep blaming prior Boards for the problem. One Board member who is running for re-election today has been on the Board at Mesquite for over 12 years.
2. The current Board conducted a special vote on revising the CC&R's-- our condo governing documents—without clearly and completely telling owners what they were voting for.
3. The current Board cut down bushes, plants, and citrus trees at Mesquite without the advice and consent of owners. For many people, especially full time residents, this created a landscaping eyesore near their property.
4. The current Board had more closed-door Executive Sessions than actual Board Meetings last year. As Mesquite has become more secretive, owners are increasingly kept in the dark about where their money is going. And now with the new disputed CC&R's it is even easier to make decisions in Executive Session.
5. The current Board refused repeated requests by an attorney for owners to verify the controversial CC&R vote. Then the Board used our owner's money to pay our HOA attorney to stonewall the legitimate request of the nearly 45% of the owners who asked that their vote be limited to the “insurance crisis” only.
Finally, if you want to reward the Board's performance of the last 2 years, then vote them back into office. If you want to indicate clearly to all Board members that you expect more openness and responsiveness from this point forward, then please vote for Enrico Pietropaolo today, the only non-Board member running this year.

P.S. There are 2 forms here that you need to send back today.
1. The ballot. It has already been pre-marked for Rico. If you own more than 1 unit, just photo copy it and mark 1 of 2, etc.
2. The Proxy Form. Complete your unit number, date, and signature on this form. The rest has been pre-marked. If you have more than 1 unit, put each unit on this form.
Send both off today. NOTE: If you have already voted and you want to change your vote for Rico, just send this form in now and put “Count this Ballot-- not the other one I sent.”
The Board will then count this for Rico.

When you get the mailing with the special premarked ballot for Rico please send them in anyway to the P.O. Box in Palm Springs even if you voted BEFORE. We want to COUNT the votes ourselves first before we send them over to the HOA. Even if you vote twice—that is OK.
