The current Mesquite Board of Directors is composed of 5 members.

Those members are:

• Acting President.... Gerald Carlin, also Vice President.
• Terry Arnold... Director (he replaced Ron Novy, former President).
• Chuck Barbaglia... Secretary.
• Bob Blum... Treasurer.
• Roger Lubin... Director.

The next election for Board Members, and any other issue we can
petition to have on the ballot, is on the last Saturday in February.
According to my records, that would then be Saturday February 28th,
2004.

At that time I believe there will be 2 positions open – those currently
held by Robert Blum, Treasurer, and that of Terry Arnold, who has
been on the Board on and off for more than 12 years, and who was
recently appointed by the Board to replace President Ron Novy, who
sold his unit at Mesquite.

Acting President Gerald Carlin, who has been a member of several
HOA Boards with much controversy in the Valley, has his term set to
expire the following year.

The easiest way to affect change within the HOA is to find qualified
people who are honest and don't mind working hard, and to
encourage them to seek office for the Board. If you or someone you
know would like to serve our community please let us know by email
on our home page.

It might also be nice to have a woman on the Board for a change. And
if possible, someone who does not live in the Valley or at Mesquite
on a full time basis to represent the approximately 85% of owners
that only get to use their units part time, but nevertheless subsidize
the full time residents—who currently make up the majority of the
Board. Many of us think we need to have more imput on decisions
rather that just be told where to send our monthly checks!

Another way that we might approach the election is to put together a
reform slate of 2 members on the same ticket, and create a common
platform of changes that we will like to see made. Some thoughts on
