When we stated this web site nearly 5 years ago, we did so with the purpose of giving Mesquite owners a forum to post their thoughts and ideas free from the control and oversight of the Board of Directors-- and HOA officials.

Although the site can leave open the possibility of misinformation posted from time to time, the opinions posted by owner are simply that-- their ideas. That is what pure freedom of speech is all about. 

What has become troubling over the past year, after we fought hard to get a similar web site up and running from the HOA, and then a forum like the HOA Discussion page, it to now have the HOA censoring information on that web site in a manor that would make Fidel Castro blush:

*** Blocking Members from being able to get online.

*** Editing and re-editing comments made when those comments were originally challenged by the facts. NOT making corrections, but rewriting the comments as if the original comments never existed.

*** The Discussion Page Forum being "off line" or "under construction" when issued being discussed were not in line with the official HOA philosophy or plans.

We realize it is frustrating to be an owner and not know whom to believe when being asked again and again for more money each month at Mesquite. 

That is why it is important to have good competent people set aside their time to serve on the Board-- not just leaving it to others to do for years and years at a time.

We need to keep an eye on expenses at Mesquite like any other place where you give people virtually unlimited access to millions of dollars.

That is our job as owners-- to keep an eye on expenses and the actions of the Board.

That is why it is important that we not allow our voices to be censored by this outrageous arrogance of the part of the Board.

We are the Owners of Mesquite Country Club. Not tenants. The Board serves at our pleasure.

This is a democracy not a dictatorship.

It's time that the Board got that message.
